- March 4, 2013. Dr. Yamir Moreno joins the Advisory Board of the WHO Collaborative Center initiative “Complexity Sciences for Health Systems” (CS4HS), which is based on the Division of Mathematical Modeling at the University of British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- February 2013. COSNET members Dr. Sandro Meloni and Dr. Yamir Moreno will co-organize a Satellite Meeting at the European Conference on Complex Systems 2013 (ECCS2013), to be held in Barcelona from September 16 to September 20, 2013.

- November 27, 2012. Dr. Carlos Gracia-Lázaro successfully defended his Ph.D Thesis entitled “Dynamics and Collective Phenomena of Social Systems” under the supervision of Prof. Luis M. Floría and Dr. Yamir Moreno. He will continue his work as a postdoc within COSNET.
- November 19 and 20, 2012. The kick-off meeting of MULTIPLEX took place at IMT in Lucca, Italy. Joaquín Sanz, Dr. Sandro Meloni and PI Dr. Yamir Moreno attended the meeting.
- November 16, 2012. Gripenet.es has been launched. This is a platform to monitor the evolution of influenza and is part of the European Consortium Influenzanet. Help us to spread the word!.
- November 6 and 7, 2012. The kick-off meeting of PLEXMATH took place in Tarragona. Emanuele Cozzo, Dr. Javier Borge, Dr. Jesus Gómez and PI Dr. Yamir Moreno attended the meeting.
- October 2012. Dr. Yamir Moreno, elected member of the Executive Committee of the Complex Systems Society.

- September 2012. Pablo Piedrahita joined COSNET Lab to perform his PhD studies. He will work under the supervision of Dr. Javier Borge and Dr. Yamir Moreno.
- September 2012. COSNET Lab will join the Influenzanet platform hosting the Spanish node of the project. More news soon.
- August 2012. COSNET Lab will take part in two European Projects under the call FET-Proactive: the STREP “PLEXMATH” and the IP “MULTIPLEX” funded by the European Commission. Group Leader Yamir Moreno will be the PI of the Zaragoza node in both projects. More news soon.

- October 5-7, 2011. BIFI attended the meeting of the Spanish node of the FuturICT EU Flagship project. Dr. Alfonso Tarancón, the Institute’s director, gave an overview of BIFI’s research activities in relation to FuturICT. Additionally, Dr. Yamir Moreno gave one of the two Keynote public lectures of the meeting. The talk discussed our recent work on social movements and social media. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Moreno, among others, joined the Spanish Steering Committee representing BIFI.
- September 28, 2011. Dr. Yamir Moreno joined Nature Scientific Reports as an Editorial Board Member.
- September 23, 2011. BIFI was attending the Researchers in Life Night in Zaragoza. Dr. Yamir Moreno gave a public lecture at Ibercaja Zentrum about BIFI’s study on the structure and dynamics of the 15-M social movement on an online social platform.
- September 11 to September 23, 2011. PhD candidates Emanuele Cozzo and Joaquín Sanz were among the 45 students that were involved in the Summer School on Statistical Physics of Complex and Small Systems organized by the Group on Statistical and Nonlinear Physics of the Royal Spanish Physical Society and hosted by IFISC in Palma de Mallorca. Moreover, Dr. Yamir Moreno gave a course entitled “Critical Phenomena in Complex Networks” at the School.
- September 8, 2011. Dr. Javier Borge-Holthoefer and Dr. Yamir Moreno participated in a public colloquium at Caixa Forum Madrid about the recent mobilizations in Spain around the 15-M movement. Dr. Moreno gave a public lecture about BIFI’s study on the structure and dynamics of the 15-M social movement as seen on online social networks and both researchers participated in the round table that followed the lecture. We were also interviewed by FECYT. Check the interview here.
- June 17, 2011. BIFI completes the first study about the 15-M movement on online social networks and releases a video representing users’ interactions in a known online social platform.
